Food Choice Diet Food Nutrition GCSE

Ideal for classwork, distance learning, revision, homework, this 7-page workbook and the picture + word cue cards will take your AQA or EDEXCEL GCSE students through the various aspects of food choice. In this highly and colourfully illustrated workbook, learners will work through personal, social, socio-economic, medical, religious, cultural, ethical and moral food choices. Tasks include matching pictures to skills areas and methods, applying thinking and knowledge, explaining reasons behind choices, identifying, discussing and explaining beliefs. Finally, there is a research task where learners investigate medical reasons like food allergies and intolerances as well as medical conditions prohibiting the ingestion of certain food and drink. Throughout, learners combine their knowledge and research skills to build a mind map on food choice. Cue cards featuring both the illustrations and keywords from the work book are also included. These lend themselves for differentiation, e.g. let learners talk through the pictures and words prior to completing the written tasks. Lower ability learners could be given the picture sheets and asked to copy the matching words onto them to help them when completing the tasks in the workbook. Autumn, Harvest, Thanksgiving: Your students will enjoy learning about pumpkins and finding out some of the facts they never knew about them. The workbook starts with the life-cycle of pumpkins from seed to soup and carved shell. Students are then challenged to think about why certain things, like rain, soil, etc… are good for growing pumpkins, find out about some botanical facts and finally are made to think about uses for the various parts of a pumpkins. There is a crossword puzzle at the end of the workbook and an answer key is provided separately. The workbooks - UK English version and US English version, are included as pdf files, each taken from both A4 and letter formats. Addiction pictures for discussion

Suitable for discussion and use with late teen or adult Language students, e.g. ESL, Spanish, French, German, Italian as well as Health Awareness lessons etc… the 48 photographs will surely encourage learners to talk about several types of addiction and more. Pictures are presented in various sizes, i.e. 1, 2, 4 and 12 to a page. This allows for a variety of activities, from flash cards to pairs games, depending on the skills of your learners. PLEASE NOTE: Due to the rough nature of this topic, some of the pictures and themes are NOT SUITABLE for younger students. A PowerPoint presentation features all 48 pictures as well as slide 1 for you to adapt to your needs, e.g. learning aims and an empty slide at the end to allow you to add anything you would like.
